Trials and rankings

The individual events at the 2020 National Championships will be trials for the 2020 Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) and the 2020 World University Orienteering Championships (WUOC).

The Sprint distance will be a trial for the 2020 World Orienteering Championships (WOC).

The M/W21E grade Sprint and Middle distance events will be World Ranking Events.

SI Air+

SI Air+ contactless punching will be enabled for all grades for all the Middle and Long distance events, and will be available for hire as part of the registration process. For the Sprint distance, SI Air+ will be enabled for M/W20 and M/W21E grades only to ensure fairness.

Competitors in M/W20 and M/W21E for the Sprint distance who do not have a SIAC will be loaned one at no cost.

The following areas are embargoed for orienteering until after Easter 2020

Sprint distance

Embargoed area for sprint distance
The Palmerston North City area bordered by Tremaine Avenue, Vogel Street, Featherston Street and Ruahine Street, including Skogland Park, Edwards Pit Park, Freyberg High School, Ross Intermediate School and St Mary’s Primary School and the Hospital Fish Shop. It is forbidden to train within this area with a map of any sort, to test route choices or take part in any activity that may give a navigational advantage.

NB. This whole area will be completely off limits from 6am on Friday 10th April until after the event closes in the afternoon.
